The ladies in orange took the opportunity to capitalize on two penalty corners, one right after the other. Carlien van den Heuvel scored the first in the fourteenth minute and captain Maartje Paumen scored the second in the fifteenth minute. Just a few minutes later Ginella Zerbo scored the third goal for the Netherlands. Right before half time Hockeyroo Kathryn Slattery juggled the ball over the Netherlands’s keeper to put Australia on the board. The ladies in orange were able to lock in their berth to the final with two more goals, one each from Lidewij Welton and Willemijn Bos. Australia will play for 3rd/4th place on Friday.
